Dessert Social
-this Friday at 4 to 5:30 pm in the engineering lounge
-meant to welcome newly declared engineers and to hang out with
undeclared E4 students
-Monica and Mack will buy desserts, Jamie will tell them what they
need to get (prob 10 pie-sized things)
-Alice will email out the invitation to E4 girls and sophomore engineers
-the engineering profs got their invitation
-upperclassmen: tell your youngsters to come by!
Tutoring
-starts next week
-tutoring 2nd through 6th graders
-Monday and/or Friday 2:45 to 3:45
-sent around sign-up sheet
-so far we have 4 people for Monday and 5 or 6 people for Friday
-they're going to give us 4 or 5 children per tutor
-maybe should tell them to start off with 2 or so children per tutor
and add on once we're used to tutoring
-Jamie will tell them that
WEST conference booklet
-Sally in College Relations will be working on the prof bio booklet
-she will take care of printing and formatting
-suggested including female profs in the Hum/Social Science department
in the booklet
-lots of discussion and consideration on the matter
-decided to tell them no on the grounds that the HSS profs are not
part of WEST, but that we would be happy to help them get HSS
interviews for the Mudd booklet
-we have no obligation to include HSS profs or to do what College
Relations wants
-Sara will talk to them
-email Jamie if you have concerns or suggestions
WEST
-same (purple) t-shirts as last year
-if you lost your shirt or are a frosh and need a new shirt, email
Jamie by Weds.
-prof helpers: Lindsay will help Ahn, Zane will help Logan, Mack will
help Alvarado, Sara will help Lape, Machaela?, Lily will help Yang,
Rosia will help Sparks
-Purchase snacks and drinks: Cassy, Monica, Natt, and Gena (will tell
them what they need closer to time)
-got volunteers for pretty much everything
-Jamie and/or Gena will send out the list of who volunteered for what soon
-start asking (girl) friends from other majors to talk to the
highschool students during lunch at WEST
-student panel: want a range of classes and majors
-Student panel suggestions: Natalie Durgin, Rosia, Hadley, Jamie,
Juliana, Lia, Dana, Christina Kalcic, Ricco, Elaine Hart, Laura Moyer
-had 6 for the student panel 2 years ago and it was too many, four
last year seemed better
Prof Relations
-prof lunch with Yang will be next week, Lindsay will tell the people
who signed up
-will institute sending birthday cards to female faculty next schoolyear
-decided to include all female profs at Mudd and to include the photo
of us at this year's WEST
Other
-Prof. Bassman will be on sabbatical next year, so Prof. Lape will be
stepping in as our faculty adviser—welcome!
-Envelope stuffing went well; Tia will be getting replies soon (may
want to talk to DOS about getting so much mail)
-Everyone should sign up to drive a Mudd van—just go by the
Engineering dept office or to the east side of Kingston
-Tia's webpage is great! Send her suggestions if you have any.
