Miss SWE Pageant
-Needs to be improved
Better microphones/speakers (it was kind of hard to hear)
Better music (or more music… too much silence when Dean Chris wasn’t talking)
Needed another trashcan (too much trash)
People in the back couldn’t really see (might rearrange chairs for next year)
-People with pictures should send them to swe@hmc.edu
-Can have a slide show viewing of the pictures
Diversity Discussion with Kenji
-want to have more joint programs with API-SPAM, NSBE, and SALSA
-possible study break in December with other clubs
-want to increase diversity visibility and have discussion of issues
Upcoming Events
YBS Day
-Saturday November 18, 2006 from 9am to 1pm.
-if 7 or 8 people sign up then Blanche might pay SWE (think of this as a fundraiser… SWE needs more money. Remember WEST Conference is expensive.)
Celebrating Women in Science Dinner
-Monday November 20, 2006 5:30 pm t0 6:30 pm
-Joint organizing with David in the events office
-start advertising and emailing professor soon
-Professor De Laet can’t come talk to us about her women and computer science research (she is busy).
-Take meal card number to offset cost
T-Shirt Planning Committee
-Headed by Anna and Lucia J
-They will recruit more members to help them get the t-shirt project going
-drafted Jessica Wen to help already (well, she doesn’t know yet. But she will find out.)
-HMC Top 10, Major Top 10, HMC SWE club shirt
-talk to Sally Arroyo in the Public Relations Office
-Update presidents about progress periodically
-Goal is to finish by end of semester
WEST Conference (March 3rd)
-Ideas for shirt colors (not purple and red anymore, had that already)
Lime green? Baby blue? Pink on brown??
-New speakers include President Klawe (might have Dean Noda do opening address and have President do a Message from the President)
-Still need to find a keynote speaker
-Assign professors for having workshops and assign members to go talk to them

-Still need members to tutor and read to elementary school children (around afternoon)

Fun Nights
-Movie night? Probably November 18, 2006 from 8-11pm in Riggs Room in LAC (will reserve on F&M site
-Movies we might want to watch are the Prestige and the Illusionist
Speed Mentoring
-Mentor the freshman on choosing classes for next semester plus on other stuff
-come up with some suggested guidance questions
