Professor Spjut received his B.S. (magna cum laude) from the University of Utah, and his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was the John Chipman Assistant Professor of Chemical and Process Metallurgy at MIT. He has been an assistant professor and an associate professor at Harvey Mudd College. He has served as the Director of Engineering Computing and the Acting Director for the Center for Design Education at HMC.
